Maarten van den Haak, born June 30th 1979 in The Netherlands, learned to take photos while attending boarding-school in Washington D.C. at age 16. Starting with basic black & white photography and darkroom printing. After two years he returned home to The Netherlands.

Back in Holland Maarten started to study journalism in Utrecht. His passion for the camera slumbered in the background. Eventually Maarten decided not to become a journalistic writer but a photojournalist.

Since 2004 Maarten is working professionally. He's an Amsterdam based photographer with a special interest in background social and cultural phenomena. Maarten loves to travel.
